Does anyone from alpha. Remember CPR Ottinger/ Ottenger I forget how it's spelled. He was a west pointer that hated being around anyone except other west pointers. He was an ASS!

I dont check this very often, but it would be cool to talk to you again. It has been a long time, we should get caught up! When did you finally leave W germany?

I left in early Nov. 87', went back to ft benning ranger department. Spent another 10years in national guard in Texas. it was an airborne unit LSRU. I have some old pics of WINTEX 86" and Warner Kasserne, I need to upload and send some to ya.

If you ever get a chance to call 281-536-7552, take care brother and great to hear from you!

Our paths were exactly the opposite. I left the Ranger Dept in 1976 to go "The Zoo" and left in 1978.

Oh yeah I remember him. He busted me before I even got 30 days in country! lol

Ottenger got busted for drugs after I ETS ! Prick who couldn't read a map for shit,if id known he was on way out id stayed in !!

You were repeating yourself there Oscar you said West Pointer and Ass in the same sentence. We had an ass for a commander when I was in Alpha as well, a CPT Leggitt. He left us to go to West Point to teach.

Oscar I would like to talk to you about you service with LSRU unit in the TXARNG. I was in a LRRP unit in Vietnam. I am a military insignia collector and have a section of my collection for Ranger, Pathfinder, LRRP and LRSU units. NG LRSU unit insignia are the hardest to obtain. I am looking for tabs, patches, crests etc for these units. If you can help me my email is rangerroy73@yahoo.com

Oscar,

I had forgotten his name but remembered him as being a total douche. He replaced Captain Paxton who was S.F./Ranger etc, who was a great C.O. I remember morale sucked under Ottenger and we only did half as much P.T. which was actually a bad thing!

I remember Tommy Austin and myself "DJ"ed a party for the officers and NCOs in 86' I believe. That was actually pretty fun and Ottengers' wife gave us some cash afterwards which was unexpected.

I remember Austin, he had some really nice stereo equipment. He was very helpful when I was buying mine. CPT Paxton was cool, you can tell he was a former NCO.

Oscar, you have my pea brain going crazy here(quite an easy task lol)  You mentioned Capt Paxton as commander and he being a prior NCO!!!!  I was in alpha company motor pool from 1972-1976, at that time we had a 1st Lieutenant Paxton as our Company Commander and Holland Estepp as our 1st Sgt .  Paxton too, was a prior NCO , I was wondering if this was the same soldier Commanding the same outfit on different occasions??  Also, there was a SP4 Ricardo Flores who was a buddy of mine in the motor pool, his wife's name was Rosalinda.  They and my wife and I shared a few "salty dogs" back in the day.  I think we had drinks of the month, LOL I remember the "Harvey wall banger month"....many great times, so long ago.  Thank you all for your service.  SFCretiredDV
