Good day, I am RonaId Morris, I saw your profile and I decided to contact you immediately. Can you get back to me on my email (ronmorri01@gmail.com) for full details. Regards.
You mentioned knowing Sgt Bailey, If he is the same Bailey that was a marine that later joined the army I knew him. He was my drill Sgt at Benning. I saw his picture in the company photo they had in the downstairs hallway. He was a cool but crazy guy!
I arrived in Bamberg as a SPC4 in Aug 1974 and the unit was in a major training area, I don't remember which one but the next day after I got my TA50 they trucked me out to them. They really didn't know what to do with me so they stuck me with a rifle platoon. Once we got back to Bamberg I ended up being the Asst. Training NCO for a short while working with a SGT Baily. Eventually I ended up being the CBR(NBC) NCO until I ETS'd in Jun 1974. I remember there was black guy as the armorer, a SPC4 Clay, the arms room was next to the CBR room. There was a German national that had a small barber shop in the barracks next to the Orderly Room. I ended up leaving Germany with less than a year in country, I wasn't even suppose to go but you know how the Army runs. Ended up coming back in Mar 1976 as a Medic and stayed in until I retired as a SFC. Had some good times there, I remember we had a beer machine in the barracks, like a Coke machine. You won't see that now days. To all the "Ready Rifles" take care and remember we were and still are soldiers.
