First Ever 1/52 Battalion Reunion
On June 16, 2010, 15 members of the 1st Battalion 52nd Infantry (Mechanized) met at the Tuscany Hotel in Las Vegas NV for the first Battalion Reunion.
Those attending were Bill and Lisa Burt, Mike Cook, Lamar and Shannon Crosby, Dan Harris, Jerry and Rosa Hillhouse, Mark and Jean Lastufka, Al Lovett, Jose and Mabel Melendez, Bill and Maria Patterson, Nick and Jennifer Porcellino, Kevin and Linda Proett, Robert and Shellye Pruitt, Betsy and John Sheffer, Ron and Karin Spear, and Michael and Sara Streff.
For the next 5 days the group reminisced, reacquainted, shared meals, toured the strip, seen shows, and made new friends. Rank was forgotten as everyone enjoyed each others company. Privates dined with Battalion Commanders, 1st Sergeants shared beers with the enlisted, wives listened to stories they’ve heard many times and shared a few stories of there own.
I was very nervous traveling to the reunion. This would be the first time I seen any of these guys since December 1985. As the men started to arrive that nervous feeling quickly gave way to a strong sense of belonging and friendship, the feeling that you get when you see family members that you have not seen in a long time.
I would like to thanks all those who attended the reunion for a GREAT REUNION! I truly can not wait to see you all at the next one. To those who could not attend, I truly hope to see you at the next one.

I originally wanted to write a long reply to what a great time we had in Vegas. But my thoughts were pretty much the same as yours Bill. Did not matter the rank that was held in 1/52 everyone got along nicely. Was good to see old buddies like Mike Cook and Dan Harris again, but also to spend time with Lamar Crosby, Mike Streff, and Jose Melendez, Bill Paterson and the rest of 1/52's Officers. Top Hillhouse was a mountain of a man as 1st Sgt of Delta Company and can still command our attention. And yes, Kevin Proett has gotten taller. I will see Lovett, Porcellino, and Lastufka soon. To all I missed keep in touch had a great time and look forward to seeing everyone again.

Thank you for putting together a wonderful reunion! I really appreciate you including Shannon and me on the invite list. Getting to visit with you and some of the other former enlisted members of the battalion was the highlight of the reunion for me. It was fun to reminisce about the time we spent together and hear your perspective on what transpired. I certainly learned some things I didn't know but I have to say that was not a surprise.
