says it all. Bamberg and the US Army garrison always had a warm and inclussive relationship that was unique. Many a German neighbor was born, grew up and grew old with US Soldiers nearby. Many who came to the closure ceremony were quite emotional about the final departure of "their" US soldiers.

Me too, Jeff. Throughout my career, it has been the assignment by which I measured all others... both for the unit and the location. Several units came close. No locations ever did.

Thanks for posting this pic it really hits home. To this day I can say my years in Bamberg were some of the most important in my life.
